This episode is pastor Sean Finnegan&#8217;s presentation <strong>&#8220;The Trinity before Nicea&#8221;<\/strong> recorded at the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Theological Conference (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/theologicalconference.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Theological Conference<\/a> in April of 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pastor Finnegan began with a Google search, which led him to<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" this piece by evangelical apologist Matt Slick. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/carm.org\/early-trinitarian-quotes\" target=\"_blank\"> this piece by evangelical apologist Matt Slick.<\/a> Slick asserts that <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The following quotes show that the doctrine of the Trinity was indeed alive-and-well before the Council of Nicea.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Do <\/em>they show that? Pastor Finnegan, who has an a Masters in Theological Studies from Boston University&#8217;s School of Theology, carefully works through these quotes attributed to <strong>Polycarp,  Justin, Ignatius, Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Origen<\/strong>, using <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mr. Slick's own definition of &quot;the Trinity.&quot;  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/carm.org\/questions-trinitarianism\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Slick&#8217;s own definition of &#8220;the Trinity.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My reaction<\/strong> after hearing this presentation?
