In this episode I analyze a little <strong>humorous historical fiction<\/strong> called <strong>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Zv60KituiFs\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"God's Death: A Counterfactual Historical Reconstruction (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">God&#8217;s Death: A Counterfactual Historical Reconstruction<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong> which was recently featured on Mark Cain&#8217;s <a aria-label=\"Unitarian Christian Alliance podcast (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/podcast.unitarianchristianalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">Unitarian Christian Alliance Podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I first heard it, I laughed out loud multiple times. But on reflection, I realized that the piece is <strong>presenting serious arguments<\/strong> about interpreting the New Testament in comedy form. In this episode I explain what those are and how they relate to some of my work on this topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I present the audio in the first segment of this episode; for the full effect, the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Zv60KituiFs\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"YouTube version (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\"><strong>YouTube version<\/strong><\/a> is recommended. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The type of reasoning I discuss in this episode <strong>manifestly does <em>not <\/em>assume th<\/strong>e truth of unitarianism. Rather, it comes to the texts looking for what fits or misfits <em>various <\/em>competing Christian theologies.
