literature<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trinities.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slide42-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43498\" width=\"432\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trinities.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slide42-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trinities.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slide42-450x253.jpg 450w, https:\/\/trinities.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slide42-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/trinities.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slide42.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along the way I explain why trinitarian, subordinationist, oneness\/modalist, and Socinian interpretations of this text are problematic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But my purpose is not to give full refutations of these, but rather to show how overall plausible and well-motivated the correct interpretation is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A correction: when I listed the four kinds of readings of John 1, I unaccountably left out the Oneness\/Modalist sort.
