Wright, and Dr. Larry Hurtado<\/strong> about what we can say, based on historical evidence, about Jesus&#8217; understanding of himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chandler finds their proposals wanting. They are intended to be orthodox, or at least <em>somehow <\/em>to point in that direction, but it is not clear that they succeed, and their <em>intelligible <\/em>content, gleaned from the gospels, is what biblical unitarian Christians say: that Jesus understood himself to be a Jewish man who was the prophet and unique Messiah of the one true God, the God of Israel, the Creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAre you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days? . . .
