Dear interviewee,

telephone interview dogThank you for agreeing to an interview!

There are two ways we can do this:

  1. I record you over the phone. This is easiest for you, but your side does sound like a phone call.

  2. You record yourself, using your own smartphone, tablet computer, or computer, and upload the resulting .mp3 (OK) or .wav file (best) here. Here one episode (Ipad) and another (Android smartphone). (I believe the second is less echoey because of where the interviewee was sitting during the interview, not because of the hardware difference.)

    1. Apple IPhone users, look here.

    2. Android users – there are countless apps that can do this. I’ve used this one myself, with “Skip silence” turn OFF (unchecked), set to record a 44.1 wav.

    3. Either way, you just have to be able to find the resulting file, so as to upload it to me.

    4. Feel free to upload me a test file if you want see if it sounds good enough.

    5. I recommend a non-echoey location, such as sitting on a couch or chair, without hard, flat surfaces nearby (e.g. desktop, table top).

Whether or not I agree with you about the subject of our interview, I do not want to make you look bad. I’m grateful for the conversation, and will strive to present you as well as I can. I will edit out your  “ums”, “ahs” and such, at least most of them. Since we’re not “live,” we can start and stop, and even do-over, if you say something you didn’t mean to.

What’s the “reach” of this podcast? There is no way to count how many actually listen to each podcast in the various ways (itunes, youtube, directly in the browser). In December 2013, the trinities.org/blog site got 7494 unique visitors, averaging 242 per day. Those 7494 visitors viewed 12,600 pages. If you see the way the site is built, the post with your interview will be readily apparent for some time, and it will be permanently available and easy to find on the trinities blog as well as itunes and youtube. How many people hear your podcast depends on many factors. You can easily increase the listeners by posting a link to your interview via Facebook or other social media.

Please email me ASAP with

  • your preferred phone number (land line is best)

  • date, and

  • time for the interview. I’ll get back to you to confirm, or suggest another time and date.

I look forward to talking with you! The interview will eventually appear as a podcast episode here at trinities.org/blog/, and will be posted as well to the itunes feed and my youtube channel. When will I release your episode? It depends… feel free to email me about that.

Again, thank you for doing this.

Let me know if you want the questions in advance – in most cases, I can do this.

Best,

Dale
